Notes on doing it — Day #225: Here is a plan B that always works
When life throws you a curve ball try this
--
For what feels like the 10th time this year I’m moving into a new apartment. Today I got the keys and expected to do a lot of work around the apartment. Then I realized I didn’t have the necessary tools at hand, which sent shockwaves through the time schedule I had put in place. Out of all the things I had hoped to get done today I managed to finish zero. It might sound like a total disaster for the outlook of my week. That’s because it is.
As I felt all my plans and hopes for the project crumble beneath me I somehow managed to stay calm and productive. There was nothing I could really do to move forward with my plans for the apartment, but I realized there were a lot of things I could do to make everything around the project easier. Now I had time to deal with all the everyday stuff that you so easily forget when you dive headfirst into a busy week. You still have to eat, put on clean clothes for work, restock toilet paper.
So that’s what I did. I filled up my fridge, did a load of laundry and prepared the next one, and made sure to drink my vegetable smoothie.
Wait, what’s my point? That sometimes we might find ourselves stuck on a project, where there’s nothing we can do to move it along. We know that is going to mess with our plans and mental resources going forwards. But what we can do instead of just sitting back in frustration is prepare for those extra busy days ahead of us. It’s on those days we make sure to deal with all the everyday bull shit god has brought upon us.
