As I’m now emerging victorious from an insanely busy couple of weeks I’m taking an important lesson with me. Oftentimes when you are busy, the first things you cut out of your day are the things that will actually help you overcome your to-do-list.

I’m talking about the little things. But the important things. The things that don’t feel very productive compared to actually working. But the things that make you able to work.

Those are things like exercising, getting proper sleep and eating well and timely.

It might just be me, but those are things that I tend to deprioritize when I’m busy, which often ends up making me more busy as it causes me to lose my ability to stay focused and productive.

By putting these things back on my priority list, paradoxically I feel like I have purchased more time. Everything gets easier and quicker to deal with, when you are functioning probably. I hope I can remind myself of that experience the next time I’m stuck in a busy loop and skipping meals and exercise.
